Châtelaillon-Plage has an amazing sandy beach and lots of tourist facilities and attractions. To visit nearby are three fascinating islands, large towns like La Rochelle, Rochefort and Bordeaux, historical monuments and many charming country villages. Every other year (more or less), we visit Châtelaillon-Plage, and each time, we come back with many happy memories and ‘dinner-time’ stories!

We usually stay with a French family in their home. We pay for our travel and a small gift for our hosts. Then we return the hospitality when they visit Knebworth. Since 1990 we have made so many friendships with the people of Châtelaillon, that we have established a very close bond.

During our visits, there are usually group excursions to places of interest like the many superb locations on the coast and inland. La Rochelle, which is only ten minutes away, Venise Verte, Ile de Ré, Ile d’Aix, Fort Boyard, Château de Tiffauges, Rochefort, the Futuroscope theme park, Bordeaux and Cognac.
